The Airman's Watch encompasses the large ground floor of an impressive stone-built Victorian Villa, originally owned by the Duke of Northumberland. Four steps lead down from the lovely garden into the entrance hall. A spacious entrance hall, perfect for boots and kitbags and storing bicycles, leads through to the modern, well equipped fitted kitchen which has all the "tools" that Chef will require. Kitchen units are well fitted and provide ample storage. Surface space is plentiful and very well presented. The kitchen lighting is extensive and well positioned to allow flexibility. Appliances are very well provided and include a separate fridge and freezer. The floors are a continuation of the entrance hall and finished with Victorian black and white ceramic tiles in a traditional chequer board fashion. The lounge and dining area is spacious, bright and stylish, with a south facing bay window that enjoys sunshine all day and looks out onto the garden. There is a large John Lewis sofa and also a leather armchair filled with feathers for comfort, to help you relax. Themed pictures hang on the wall as does a replica propellor, into the centre of which a clock has been fashioned. The oak dining table and chairs are situated to overlook your pretty garden. The beautiful floor is solid oak with a large good quality rug to add warmth and comfort. There is an abundance of storage space.
The 'L' shaped bedroom is small, but perfectly formed. It is peaceful and very pretty. There is half-height wood panelling below Farrow and Ball® painted walls. There is feature exposed stonework, providing a perfect setting for the two hand-crafted "Bavarian" beds, each within its own private alcove. One bed is double (access one side only), the other is single. The bedding is soft egyptian cotton.
There is a well lit shower room with dressing area and dressing table, with hooks for robes. Mirrors are well positioned and there is a socket and a hairdryer. The double sized walk-in shower (height 6 feet 4 inches, 195cm) has excellent water pressure and the temperature is instantly controllable. The shower head can be hand held. There is a large hand basin. A separate WC, with hardwood seating has its own hand basin. It is all finished to a very high standard.
Please note: the accommodation is unsuitable for those reliant on a wheelchair.
Sorry, no dogs except assistance dogs. There is a park across the road for them to use as a free run area.
There is non-reserved on street parking right outside the garden gate, with further parking spaces about 20 meters away, next to Barter Books. All this car parking is free.
